1. Mardin Houses

2. Mardin Castle

Mardin Castle, whose history dates back to the 10th century, is also known as the "Eagle's Nest". The castle, which is strategically located, has been used to protect the people in many civilizations. 3. Deyrulzafaran Monastery

Deyrulzafaran Monastery, built by Assyrians in the 5th century AD, is 4 kilometers away from Mardin. The monastery, which is a rare work with its plain view and mosaics, was the residence of the patriarchs until the 1930s. Visitors to the monastery can also have the privilege of seeing a historical Syriac Bible. By the way, among the places to see in Mardin is the Mor Gbariel Monastery (Deyrulumur Monastery) located in the Tur Abdin Plateau.

 

4. Kasimiye Madrasah

Kasimiye Madrasah, an exceptional example of Artuqid stonework, was built in the 15th century. The madrasah, whose construction was left unfinished due to the Mongol invasion, impresses with its architecture and magnificence. There is also the Al Jazeera Art Museum in the madrasah. According to the rumor; Kasım Pasha was killed in the courtyard of the madrasah. His sister rubbed the pasha's bloody shirt against the wall. It is stated that traces of blood on the wall can be seen when water is poured. On the other hand, among the places to see in Mardin are Zincirye Madrasah, Altunboğa Madrasah and Savur Kapı Madrasah.

 

5. Ulu Mosque

The Ulu Mosque in the Mardin bazaar is the oldest mosque in the city. One of the minarets in the mosque with two minarets has survived to the present day. The mosque, which gained its current appearance in 1967, appeals to four major denominations. On the minaret of the mosque, the names of the 10 companions (Asherah-i Mubashsharah) heralded with paradise are written. The Şehidiye Mosque in Mardin is also a must see.

 

6. Revaklı Bazaar

In the Revaklı Bazaar, you can find local handcrafted products. The porticoes that give the bazaar its name is divided into two as "Sipahiler" and "Tellaklar". There are shops behind the porticoes.

7. Midyat Caves

Midyat is the most visited district of Mardin. In the district, which has many historical buildings from stone houses to churches, there are also fascinating caves. Among these, Linveyri Healing Cave is the most visited cave.
